What fills a cleaned root canal?

Gutta-percha is a mouldable material often used as the core of a root canal filling. Dental products contain other ingredients alongside the base material. It is usually used with a sealing material called sealer; it is not a replacement nerve.

Quick answers
Is gutta-percha a medicine?

In this use it is filling material. An intracanal dressing serves a different purpose.

No. It fills the prepared canal space; it does not form new pulp.

Can it be removed later?

During necessary retreatment, filling material can often be accessed and removed. Feasibility and effort depend on the findings.
