Crowns, inlays and other suitable restorations.
Cementation means attaching a restoration using a suitable dental luting material. The technique and material depend on the restoration and the tooth. Conventional cements and adhesive resin-based luting materials are not freely interchangeable.
For training & practice ↓
Fit, margins, neighbouring contacts and the bite are assessed. Luting material cannot make a fundamentally ill-fitting crown fit properly.
The tooth and restoration require preparation appropriate to the chosen method. Material choice, moisture control and specified setting or curing belong together.
Excess material is removed and the restoration is checked. Advice on eating, cleaning and loading depends on the actual material and procedure.

Attachment is the general concept. Adhesive bonding uses coordinated surface treatments and a bonding system; it is not equivalent to every conventional cement technique.
Temporary attachment is intended to permit later removal. Definitive attachment is intended for longer-term use; each requires an appropriate indication and review.
The cause must first be checked, including fit, damage or changes in the tooth. Keep the crown and have it assessed promptly. Do not use household glue or superglue.
Ask about instructions for the material actually used and any local anaesthesia. There is no single waiting period for every cementation procedure.
Editorially suggested question to discuss with Dr Niusha Barahmand Pour:
Which attachment method suits my restoration, and which instructions apply afterwards?
Is a crown loose or has the bite changed? Have the attachment and tooth checked.
